The Witcher Author Demands Roughly $16M to CD Projekt Red as Royalty

The author of The Witcher book series, Andrzej Sapkowski, demanded 60 million Polish Zloty to CD Projekt Red as royalty. But has no plan for suing, yet.

Sapkowski’s lawyers claims that “the compensation remitted to the author is too low given the benefits obtained in association with the use of that author’s work.” and asking for 6% of the profits obtained from The Witcher, which estimated at that 60,000,000 Zloty.

This argument comes from discrepancy between author and developer. Which is: Sapkowski claims CDPR only effectively acquired copyright for the first game, which came out in 2007. Developers from CDPR in the other hand, claims that they legitimately and legally acquired copyright to multiple games.
